France: Nationwide Union Strike and Protests - December 5th

In response to planned pension cuts by President Macron, various key unions have announced a national strike and protests on December 5th, with confirmed participation from unions of the railway company SNCF and commercial carrier Air France air and ground crews. According to social media, on December 5th at 7:30 am (local time), approximately 2,486 participants plan to gather for a protest at the Place d'Italie, Paris. There will be buses and transportation provided from multiple stations for participants to reserve spots and be taken to the protest. An additional demonstration on the same day will take place at the Paris Bar Association, located at 11 Place Dauphine in Paris. The participant count is unknown at this time. NBCU staff and business travelers can expect air and rail disruptions, as unions have warned that they could experience delays or cancelled flights at numerous airports across the country. Additionally, expect heightened demand for taxis, ride-share services and other private transport providers while the strike is ongoing. Illumination MacGuff is the nearest NBCU location to Place d’Italie and is 2.8 miles away; and the nearest NBCU location to Paris Bar Association Location is Universal Pictures International approximately 1.92 miles away (additional NBCU locations are listed on the map). According to BCD travel records, there will be three NBCU business travelers arriving in Paris on December 5th.
